Pregnant? There's an app for that!
The NHS across Berkshire West, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire has this month launched a new mum & baby app which is a definitive personal guide for pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Originally developed by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and their charity CW+ with Imagineear, the app has evolved with new content led by North West London Local Maternity System to deliver on the ambitions of the NHS Better Births report involving mums, midwives and doctors, Royal Colleges, local authorities and research to provide women with a single source of trusted NHS information for all their maternity needs.
The app is now available within the Berkshire West, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Local Maternity System (BOB LMS). From the start of pregnancy to early parenthood, this app will support women and their families.
The app provides consistent and NHS trusted information from the point of conception until after the birth of their baby and ensures users are able to access information easily and quickly, saving both women and clinicians valuable time. Crucially, the app provides pregnant women and new mums with a single point of access for information on booking appointments in their local area, providing higher levels of continuity of care.
Doctor Sunita Sharma, Consultant Obstetrician from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and initial creator of the app, said: “The mum & baby app represents an innovative way in which local maternity services have come together to provide women and their families with consistent NHS information on how to look after themselves and their babies in an easily accessible format. The app also provides women the option to make personalised plans for their care together with the team looking after them. I think this is great step forward for our maternity services.
